PlayStation partners with Discord

On SIE’s Corporate blog, SIE President Jim Ryan announced that PlayStation will partner with chat program creator Discord. This will lead implementation within the PS4/PS5 of the chat service.

Ryan stated:

“Together, our teams are already hard at work connecting Discord with your social and gaming experience on PlayStation Network. Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile starting early next year, allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate more easily while playing games together.”

This comes after Discord ending talks with Microsoft a few weeks back. It was rumored for Microsoft to acquire Discord for 10 Billion Dollars. Sony seemed to have picked up the ball that Microsoft dropped. Many fans would like to have this sort of implementation with PlayStation consoles and looks like it’ll come true.

Pretty sure that there will be more interesting partnerships with other companies/developers in the future.
