Today, on Battlefield’s official YouTube the Battlefield 2042 teaser trailer was revealed. It had new features such as larger environments, near-future settings, and a wingsuit instead of the familiar parachute. At the of the trailer, there will be a gameplay premiere this weekend.
In addition to the announcement trailer, PlayStation Blog goes into other details with the game, such as the PS5 version having 128 players, double the player amount of prior Battlefields. There will be three pillars to the game one is All-out Warfare which is what you expect out of Battlefield. The second will be Hazard mode which will be a “high stake” squad-based mode. The third mode will come from DICE LA which is in development DICE LA. A future announcement in the following months.
It will also be in a near future setting with the remaining superpowers vying for control over the remaining resources on Earth. These will be fought with ‘No-Pat Specialists’ which are stateless soldiers who fight for the highest bidder. The game will initaly have 7 maps with more content in the future.
Last, there will be Battle Pass which will include free/paid content and maps with four seasons of promised content. The game will have a similar class system as the prior battlefield but a few shake-ups such as the specialist system which gives a specific trait and specialty such as a grappling hook or drone. Initally, there will be 10 operators at launch.
Battlefield 2042 will release on October 22nd on PlayStation 4, 5, and other systems. There will be an open beta coming before release as well. The focus on multiplayer is a return to form to the original PC releases and hopefully makes the game more focused.
