Zen Studios has once again delivered a new table pack for their very addictive PSN pinball game. The Force Awakens Pack offers two tables based on Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
First up is The Force Awakens table which recreates where Finn and Rey first meet on Jakku. This table features 12 story modes and with myself not being the greatest pinball player I will probably never see them all. I will say that I played this table for several hours a day for more than a week and I had a different experience every playthrough. From helping Rey salvage scrap to sell, to battling Rathtars or watching the Millennium Falcon evade Tie Fighters overhead, there are plenty of things to keep you coming back again and again. The final table in the pack is The New Order named after the evil army that arises from the remains of the Empire in the film and it is by far my favorite table. From the very beginning you have two different skill shots you can go for and there is also a lower level in the table with another set of flippers that challenges you to free a trapped ball. Other touches like a Stormtrooper that uses a flamethower and being able to hunt down resistance members help capture the overall feel the film.
The Force Awakens Pack seemed to be a little more forgiving than previous tables and I had very few instances of the ball just rolling between the flippers or losing a ball after one or two hits. This allowed me to spend more time to explore each of the table’s secrets because the challenge factor is a lot more balanced. Both tables are the most gorgeous and detailed to date. The voice actors did a serviceable job of bringing characters such as Kylo Renn, Finn and General Hux and music and sound effects lifted straight out of the films really suck you into the experience.
Star Wars lovers and fans of the Zen Pinball series will love this new addition and I would definitely recommend Star Wars Pinball: The Force Awakens to anyone with a PS4, PS3 or Vita.
Final Score: 9/10
